  My Mom passed away on 5-18-17. Met with Danilo (the manager) at the funeral home the next day. Danilo (Dan) never said he was sorry for our loss during our meeting of doing the paperwork nor looked my husband and I in the eyes while he put papers in front of me to sign. I was told that my Mom would be cremated on 5-23-17 and I could picture up her ashes on 5-25 or 5-26. I called on 5-25, but the lady in the office said they were not there yet and would call me when they were ready. So if not on 5-25-17, I would have them on 5-26-17. At noon on 5-26-17 nobody had called me so I called. I was told she had NOT been cremated because their "machine" had broken down and they would have to have someone from the East coast come to fix it.. I was so upset that nobody had called me and the fact that she had not been cremated in 8 days since her passing. I then spoke with Dan who told me he was going to have my Mom cremated in Merced, CA at a place he use to work at. It was difficult for me to get the name of the town and funeral home from Dan. I told him that I had a right to know where my Mom was now going to be. I then called the funeral home Dan had told ne they were taking my Mom to verify this information. The manager at this facility was very professional, kind and had a lot of empathy! He said he had received a call from Heuton Memorial Chapel about a cremation, but didn't have any information on who it was for. He said he would makes some calls and get right back with me which he did do. He said that my Mom was NOT being cremated at his facility, but did call the crematory with Heuton Memorial Chapel and was informed the facility was now up and running and my Mom would be cremated there. I then called Dan at Heuton Memorial Chapel and asked what was going on. He said to me, "you should have never called the other funeral home" and continued to talk over me as I was trying to talk to him about my concerns. He was not interested in what I had to say nor did he show any empathy in the delays of my Mom's cremation. He was cold and uncaring about all the problems caused by Heuton Memorial Chapel and never apologized or show any empathy even at that point. My Mom was not cremated until 5-29-17.....11 days later.
